"Embracing Unemployment"
Well, I've decided in some ways to embrace unemployment from now until I (hopefully) start school in the fall. There are really no decent jobs to be had here, unless I work 70 hours a week so I can get 30 of them paid at $11 and change overtime! Gross. I'd like to have a life. Please?
So, I'm taking short term jobs with decent pay (say, $8/hour and higher), continuing to teach and try to get more students, and living off a little allowance from my father and moneys I had set aside (preferably for future use, but whatever).
So, I'm embracing unemployment in that I'm not making job hunting my full time job (which I did for about a week), but I'm certainly not embracing sitting on the couch all day! I've been keeping busy, continuing to do work with NXGEN, but not putting in so much energy that I'm heart broken when I get no return. And I'm of course keeping busy with The Heart Project, and planning the wedding, and being our own housekeeper :-)
Tonight is our first Polishing Party here in Bloomington. It's being hosted by a sorority on campus, courtesy of volunteer extraordinaire Lauren Hamblin. It should be fun. There are about 10 people showing up that we know of, so perhaps more in the end.
I thought I'd put a fun picture of the Pep on here. He's covered in flour. We were baking, and he was standing around the kitchen waiting for things to drop off the counter. So we dumped flour on him :-D
