Pieces of Pie and Updates
Pie is officially too big to be seen in entirety on an ultrasound :-) Pretty cool. Below are our latest (and possibly last!) sonograms. I apologize for taking so long to get them up.
I have been on bedrest with erratic blood pressure since January 27th. The blood pressure is totally fine as long as I am laying down, and Pie is looking GREAT - growing, responding to non-stress tests (monitoring my contractions and Pie's heartbeat) like a pro, and generally looking perfect. So there's nothing to alarm anyone.
Last Tuesday we made the decision - after much research and on the advice of our doctor - to induce me around the time that Pie is considered term. This is largely precautionary and NOT in response to myself or the baby being sick. We will email or call our family with the date but I, for one, would appreciate it if we don't get any phone calls the day before, the day of, and the day after the induction.
We will call EVERYONE when the baby is born - but before that, I want to enjoy the last of our time as a childless married couple, and I don't want to discuss what-ifs, alternatives, concerns, or expectations. There is also a chance that this induction could take longer than 24 hours (or that I'll actually have to be induced a second time), so we'd prefer to call family, rather than be called asking if the baby is here.
So, just know that we love you all, but we may ignore you until we're ready to call with the good news that our Strawberry or Blueberry Pie has arrived. We know you are all as excited as we are (well, almost as excited) to meet the littlest Carlson.
And now, Pie at 31wks, 1 day.

Beautiful image of Pie's spine and brain. Pie is face-down here.
