This summer has been a great one thusfar, and promises only to get better as Matt and I prepare to get married and take our honeymoon!
This week has been a little tough - I had a minor medical procedue on Monday and was sort of laid out. Matt took great care of me, though -- I'm definitely marrying a great guy :-) We also decided to switch jobs around the house. Until this week, I have cooked dinner and Matt has done the dishes. Matt has decided he'd like to do the cooking, so I'm doing dishes and cleaning the kitchen. So far, the switch has been good. I think we'll probably end up splitting both duties when school starts, but it's great kind of seeing what the other person has been responsible for almost three years now!
In other news, Pepper is becoming quite a wonderful dog. He was a fun and wonderful puppy, and he's now growing into a fairly well-behaved and incredibly loving dog. When we get ready to leave the house, he seems to assess the situation and will, about 8 times out of 10, run directly into his enclosure where he spends his time when we're out of the house. He'll just go in there and chill out on a blanket, unless we tell him to come with us, at which point he runs near the door and lies down waiting for his collar to be put on. It's really adorable. Also, while I wasn't feeling well this week, he has snuggled with me in bed and on the couch, and this morning he even slept on my belly while I took yet another nap... Generally, he knows what he is and isn't supposed to do....but he's a dachshund so sometimes he doesn't care what the rules are -- he wants to do things his way!
That's pretty much our life right now: Plan a wedding, play with a dog, sleep when tired, etc. Next week is my last week babysitting Layne. I'm definitely going to miss him. He has gotten to be more fun every week as I get to know him, his body language, and his various noises. Plus he learns two to three new words (in sign language) and since i've been watching him he's gotten sooooo much stronger. He's now scooting himself to turn around in a seated position. Everyone hopes he discover he can scoot forward and backwars and actually move around that way. He's also getting a walker in August (I think). His physical therapist is really pushing to have him standing in the coming months. Exciting!
Oh -- and is anyone even reading this thing?
