Ode to Toasted PBJ

Oh! Toasted Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich!
How I love thee! Let me count the ways...
On a chilly fall day, you are a perfect, quick lunch.
You are warm and slightly gooey.
You are toasty crunchy and super tasty!

Oh! Toasted Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich -
Though you may not be the chili dog I have somehow craved and not eaten for a month,
you are considerably lower in salt, which means you are not hated by my doctors.
You nourish my child and me, whilst not raising our blood pressure.

Oh! Toasted PBJ!
I await our next meeting.
Tomorrow around noon?

16 wks, 5 days

Almost 4 weeks after the last belly photos...not a huge difference, but a *little* perhaps!

I also need to post a little story about a mole and two wiener dogs...I think I'll do that another time, though :-)

Hello in there!

We had our second ultrasound on October 9th. As it turned out, the doc hadn't realized I wouldn't be even 15 weeks along yet, so (oh darn...) we'll have another on the 6th of November. Anyhow...the little one gave us quite a show....and now for your vieweing pleasure...
When we first started spying, Pie was sucking his or her thumb! You also get a pretty good view of the spinal cord.

Here you can see the baby in profile, as well as a little leg action and a little of the right foot!

In this one you can see a little of the lower ribs where they connect to the spine.

After these were taken, the baby got the hiccups! We could see the whole little body kind of lift up and then float back down. Pretty amazing! I couldn't believe, with all the moving around, I didn't feel any of it!!

So...
What do you think? My chin? Matt's nose? Brass or woodwind player? Football player? Runner? Cheerleader?

I'll post more belly pictures within the next week. More ultrasound pics next month!

"Maddy"

And now for photographic evidence that Matt is actually pretty adorable and patient with girls...

I think it also provides some clues as to why Matt might want a son. This is what my female cousins, ranging in age from about 7 to 16, did to Matt at Thanksgiving 2006. He was quite a good sport as he was "made so beautiful." Then the cousins named him "Maddy."

13 weeks, 1 day

Alright. Here's what (I think) you've all been waiting for....I had a t-shirt made for the occasion and everything! Here is my belly (and, currently, Pie's) at 13 weeks and 1 day pregnant!

Some more of our summer (in pictures)

Two posts in one day!. Actually, there will be three in the end :-)

Matt went to Iowa with Mark and Diane. He took many photos of this John Deere tractor, which I believe belonged to his great grandfather. His uncle, Steve, refurbished it.

Matt and I have been somewhat creative in helping me stick to a low sodium diet (for 9 months or so...). Matt made this fritatta and took photos.

We took our "babymoon" to Chicago. One stop was Milennium Park. We thought these video sculptures were pretty cool!

I made this horrible-looking but very tasty Boston Creme Pie for our friend Brian's birthday. His birthday was the same day as the IU mini-marathon, and we all carbo loaded the night before. This cake looks like something Pie might make me in a few years :-)

Matt, Brian, and myself before we ran in the IU mini-marathon and 5K. Pie and ran the 5L while the boys kicked some butt in the half marathon!

Matt passed many many people during his final push for the finish line at the IU mini marathon!

He was sweaty when he finished. But he got a medal!!

Go Team Carlson!

The past couple months have been a little wild, and I never got around to posting photos from our first anniversary. Yes, I am cheesy. I had t-shirts made for us. The thought is that every year we can get a different article of clothing. If you're confused about why we're both "#1," it's because it's for our 1st anniversary! Next year we'll both be #2. Perhaps Pie will get one for his/her first birthday. =)

Anyhow - here are some pictures of us in our cheesy team shirts!
