Thanksgiving with the Weils

Thanksgiving with my family never disappoints :-) There was turkey, there was stuffing, there was the traditional pan of baked ziti and, of course, there were the Weil Family Sweet and Sour Meatballs! There were also many many cousins, including several ranging in age from 7 to 14 who decided it was necessary to initiate Matt into the family. There was wrestling, there were ribbons in his hair, there was costume jewelry, and he was re-named. "Maddy," we're not sure if it was short for Madeline or Matilda, or something else, but that was his name!
We got back Saturday evening, slept in a bit on Sunday, but apparently that was no match for bug I came down with. I went to nap at 3PM and woke up the next morning at 9:30AM! An 18.5 hour nap and I was COMPLETELY out of it! A professor asked me this morning if I was alright in class yesterday. I was seeing double -- my brain could not comprehend reality :-)
Alrighty, off to get some stuff done. Hopefully my next post will contain photos!

98 Percent

Modern medicine - pretty impressive! I'm feeling almost back to better today. I even went for a low key bike ride at the gym. This week will be a little crazy - two days of classes and work, a day of supposed rest, and then off we go to Pennsylvania for yet another celebration of our marriage! We really are spoiled!
I must get to bed -- I've certainly been productive today...thank goodness because I've fallen a little behind. I got one paper done today that was due last week and I have another to write perhaps over the break. Anyone know of any trademark infringement cases that have been taken to court? I need one to write about....
Loves!

The Sounds of Dachshund Christmas

I've been taking it easy today, clearing my mind in preparationg for un-fun things tomorrow. As such, I watched a fair amount of TV this evening. The Holiday Season has begun, let me tell you. You know how I can tell? Because the number of doorbells we hear in TV commercials has sharply increased and, with it, the number of times we've had to calm the dogs down because they can't tell the difference between TV and real life.
And that is my story for today. Off to bed. Matt and I plan to get up "sometime before 8AM," eat a light breakfast (finishing before 8AM), and go back to bed. Because un-fun things begin at 1:30, and I can't eat or drink between 8AM and 1:30PM. Well, I won't be able to eat until probably 8PM...Anyway, how does one stave off hunger, when one tends to eat out of boredom and nervousness? Well, this one sleeps.
Off to catch up on my sleep, I guess!
Love to all.

Woot!

Alright, we survived midterms, and now it's crazy time for Matt and a very short lazy time for Brea. It's been a nutty couple of weeks of health crap and general stress, so I am declaring a bit of lazy time! That said, I was awfully productive today. I went grocery shopping, I almost got us caught up on dishes, I did some more reading on incorporating a nonprofit, I wrote my final report on my first practicum (of three required for my degree), I did laundry, and I did a little work on the case study (final paper and presentation) for Museum Management. Phew! Matt and I even snuggled in bed for a bit and watched Friends. While watching friends I marvelled at how normal Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox looked in earlier episodes (we were watching season 2). Especially Jennifer Aniston -- dang she's lost a lot of weight! I mean, I think part of it is the clothing they wear in the older episodes (pants pulled halfway up the torso and tops baaarely as low as the pants? Did we really ever think that was flattering?!?). I also think that actresses really have gotten skinnier and skinnier - I was more amazed to see how fast that has happened than to see that it's happened. I mean, that was only about 10 years ago, right?

So, this week shouldn't be tooo bad. Or, at least not any worse than the last few. I reeeally need to get a new driver's license though - one with my married name! Otherwise, I don't think they'll let me on the plane with Brea Carlson's boarding pass on Thanksgiving Day!

Oh, and Matt wants me to post about the bread he made tonight. I didn't eat much, but he is pretty psyched. Art sent a vacuum-packed bag of grain that we're certain he mixed himself and almost certain he grount himself. It's all sorts of good stuff, and organic ("not that it makes a shit," quoth the Texas Father)! That was a bday present for Matt.

Oh yeah, and the birthday party was very fun. We had it the Friday before Thanksgiving and had a great time. We went with Kiirstin/Sarah's idea for a costume and were bunches of grapes :-) It was simultaneously the most fun/creative costume I've ever worn and the most obnoxious. Thank goodness the party was at our house, because there was no way we were going to be able to go anywhere - particularly in a car - whilst wearing those costumes. So, now an opportunity for you to laugh heartily, loyal reader. Do we still have loyal readers?

Sour grapes
Sweet grapes!

The Birthday Boys (and Tony making some bizarre face in the background...)Don't forget to eat your vegetables...err...fruit! They make you strong!

Grapes - for the manly man.I think this is the stock photo of a sorority Halloween party. Girl in ridiculous costume, alcohol in one hand, cell phone in the other.
