Grow Team Carlson!

It's been 12 weeks, 1 day since I last posted. And I know that because The Baby Formerly Known as "Pie" turned 11 weeks old yesterday and was born exactly 1 week after my last post.

I'm now blogging here. See ya there!

Pieces of Pie and Updates

Pie is officially too big to be seen in entirety on an ultrasound :-) Pretty cool. Below are our latest (and possibly last!) sonograms. I apologize for taking so long to get them up.

I have been on bedrest with erratic blood pressure since January 27th. The blood pressure is totally fine as long as I am laying down, and Pie is looking GREAT - growing, responding to non-stress tests (monitoring my contractions and Pie's heartbeat) like a pro, and generally looking perfect. So there's nothing to alarm anyone.

Last Tuesday we made the decision - after much research and on the advice of our doctor - to induce me around the time that Pie is considered term. This is largely precautionary and NOT in response to myself or the baby being sick. We will email or call our family with the date but I, for one, would appreciate it if we don't get any phone calls the day before, the day of, and the day after the induction.

We will call EVERYONE when the baby is born - but before that, I want to enjoy the last of our time as a childless married couple, and I don't want to discuss what-ifs, alternatives, concerns, or expectations. There is also a chance that this induction could take longer than 24 hours (or that I'll actually have to be induced a second time), so we'd prefer to call family, rather than be called asking if the baby is here.

So, just know that we love you all, but we may ignore you until we're ready to call with the good news that our Strawberry or Blueberry Pie has arrived. We know you are all as excited as we are (well, almost as excited) to meet the littlest Carlson.

And now, Pie at 31wks, 1 day.

Beautiful image of Pie's spine and brain. Pie is face-down here.

Half a face was all Pie would show us this day. The other have was buried in my left hip bone :-)
Chest/ribcage - and you can see the heart!

30 weeks, 4 days

All blog readers know by now that I'm on bed rest this week. Which means I'm not cleaning the house much, but I am doing low key things like taking belly pictures!!

Here's the belly at 30 weeks and 4 days!

As for the bed rest, I'm already a little nuts with it (and this was day one!), but it's more the time to run my mind around in circles than the bed rest itself.

The Newest Barber!

Aleksus (Lex) Alan Barber was born at 10:32pm eastern time 1/23/08. He weighed 8lbs 11oz and was 20.75" long!

Here are my two favorite pictures (that I have so far....) of Lex and big sister Lydia.

I know I've been delinquent about photos as of late. We'll have more ultrasounds of the Pie on Friday, and I promise to get more belly pics up soon, too!!

Yawning? Swallowing? Dolphin Face (a face Diane makes)? You can see Pie's tongue!
